How Much Will it Cost to Furnish My Condo in Mexico?

A client’s condo in Selva Romantica, Puerto Vallarta.

The most common question I hear from my clients is “What should I expect to pay to furnish my home or condo in Puerto Vallarta?” The truth is, it’s complicated. Every person and every project is different, but one way to get a baseline figure is to assume 10 to 20 percent of the home’s purchase price, including appliances. For example, for a USD 250K house in need of all furnishings, window treatments, rugs, lamps, art, and decor, you should expect to spend a minimum of 25K and up to 50K+. This range assumes the purchase of quality furniture that is impervious to sunlight, heat, humidity, and insects. You can, of course, spend less, but if you do, you will likely find yourself replacing items every 2-5 years.

Estimating is difficult without knowing the exact components and dimensions for purchasing or fabricating, but one tool I use with my clients is this furniture costs worksheet. This list isn’t exhaustive but includes most of the major pieces my clients seek. By using this as a starting place, one can begin to understand how and why things add up so quickly.

I hope you find this useful!
