When it comes to your short-term rental property, looks really do matter

I love this time of year because it's all about new beginnings, fresh perspectives, and reignited ambitions. For me, this year will be all about enjoying my newfound home, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

Since moving here, I’ve spent a fair amount of time looking at listings on Airbnb, Vacasa, VRBO, and other short-term rental sites. One thing that has become clear is how quickly I would dismiss a place if it didn’t have visual appeal. Why would I want to stay somewhere boring on my big adventure?

If you have a rental property listed on Airbnb, VRBO, or another online listing site, it is crucial to invest in not only the design but also in quality photography.

But don’t just take it from me!

“Our short-term rental data at Naya Homes proves that interior design and professional photos are amongst the biggest drivers for increased bookings,” says Naya Homes revenue manager, Arturo Garcia. “We always recommend that our homeowners invest a bit more in interior design to see the real returns their property deserves.”

The decor (and photos on your listing) tell the story and make your place stand out from the rest. They are what get your potential guests dreaming of making your property part of their next getaway. But, think about it, your photos can only be as compelling as your interior design!

What design mistakes are you making that are costing you valuable bookings (and dollars)?

With a bit of inspiration and know-how, you can transform your vacation rental listing into a 5-star profit machine.
